In this post, we’re going to take a look at how you can set different edges to your countertop drawings, name them the same way you use them on your shop, and how you can create backsplashes and add edges to them, individually.
To fully understand this post it is recommended to have a little bit of knowledge about Drawing, so we recommend you to get in contact with our team and schedule a training session, if you are already SlabWare’s client, or schedule a demo if you’re not a client yet.
1. Adding different backsplashes and edges to your countertop drawing

On the Splash & Edge section, you will have a window like the image above shown on the lower-left corner, through which you can add different types of Edges to your Drawing, and assign colors to them.
When the pop-up Edges opens up, the first edge to be selected will be added automatically to all edges in your project, and because of that, it is recommended to have a standard edge on your list (e.g. Standard Edge).

Click on + to add other edges to the project, then click on the name of the edge to pin it to the mouse, after that, you can click on each edge on the project where the selected edge will be added.
Let’s add a Bullnose. Click on “+” and on the edges like the image below:

You can create a custom edge or select it from the previously registered edges on your inventory. See the next steps down below in this post to know how to register a new edge or edit an existing one in your inventory.
Also, you can create Backsplashes for each border: all you need to do is click on the border you want to have a backsplash, then select Backsplash, and select the one you want.

By doing so, a new splash will be added, and you can edit the edges on it. Check on the image below the Splash C right where we added it from the image above.:

See the example above about how backsplashes have been added to our countertop and how the edges have been applied to them. Each color is a type of edge defined in our lower-left pop-up (bull nose, flat eased, or miter edge, in this case).
Adding Edges to your Inventory and editing those you’ve already created
In case you want to directly create the Edges or edit the ones you’ve already created, simply go to the Edge list, on the left-side menu on Products > Edges > List of Edges.
If you want to add more Edges to your inventory – e.g. the ones you work with at your shop – simply click on the green button Add Edge, on the list of Edges, see the image above. Fill in the information that will be required and click on Save.
To update an existing edge, click on it on the List of Edges, and then on the Update Edge screen, update the desired information and click on Save.
Bonus Update: Pulling info from an Account when creating the Drawing Layout
Besides all the new ways of handling the edges on your drawing, you can pull info about the Price List and Sales Tax from the Account when creating a new Drawing. If the Account doesn’t have that information, the fields will remain as the Customer’s. Check out the image below:
